Changing the Confession of Your Mouth

From the very beginning of Scripture, we learn that words are not just sounds — they are spirit, they are life, and they are power. Genesis opens with a phrase repeated again and again: “And God said… and it was so.” Creation itself was birthed by the voice of God. He did not shape the world with tools, but with His Word.

Because we are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), our words also carry creative force. We are not God, but we are His children, created to function like Him in authority on the earth. That is why Proverbs 18:21 teaches: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Every sentence we speak plants seeds — either seeds of blessing or seeds of destruction.
